Course objectives
The main objective of the lecture is illustrating synthetic strategies for generating new carbon-carbon
bonds through electrophilic-nucleophilic reactivity logics. In particular, the modulation of the reactivity of
(nucleophilic) carbanionic species conferred by the competent metal will be considered, in conjunction with
the stability and the (stereo)chemical integrity. Analogously, the chemical essence of the electrophiles will
be investigated. The whole course follows an historical perspective, documenting how the conceptual
validation of reactivity principles introduced during the years continues to constitute a robust source of
inspiration for developing new chemical reactions. Through a complementary approach, the enabling of the
reactivity of notoriously elusive systems towards carbanions will be discussed.- Oggetto:
