Program
- Definition of Metal–Organic Frameworks (MOFs) and distinction from other porous materials (e.g., zeolites, COFs, porous polymers)
- Historical development from “coordination chemistry” to MOFs.
- Basic structural features: metal nodes/clusters, organic linkers, dimensionality, and network topology
- Key properties of MOFs: high surface area, tunable porosity, chemical functionality, and structural diversity
------------------------------------------
- Structural and chemical versatility as a distinctive feature
- MOF-based applications: Gas storage and separation (CO₂ capture, H₂, CH₄), Catalysis, Sensing and biomedical applications, Energy-related applications (batteries, supercapacitors)
- Current challenges and perspectives in MOF science
- Versatility in MOFs: linker functionalisation; Solvent and modulator effects; Metal precursor influence; post-functionalisation approaches
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
- Workflow for studying a newly synthesized MOF: from bulk structure to local adsorption phenomena
- Structural analysis, Textural properties, Thermal stability, Morphology, Adsorption site investigations
- Introduction to the practical activities in the synthesis laboratory
---------------------------------------------------------------
- Joint discussion on the obtained results. How to report and discuss the experimental data
