Program

Organic semiconductors are molecular materials with vanishing density of states around the Fermi energy and an energetic gap of ∼1–5 eV between the highest occupied and the lowest unoccupied states. They have properties of organic polymers such as flexibility together with semiconductive properties. Three material classes can be distinguished: polymers, crystalline or amorphous solids composed of identical polycyclic molecules, and organic salts composed of two different kinds of molecules. In this course, we address the basic properties of organic semiconductors. They are good candidates for developing electronic and optoelectronic flexible components, for example, transistors and light-emitting diodes (LEDs), on the flexible textile substrate. Experimental results on carbon nitride materials will be discussed during the course. This is a class of organic semiconductors with many potential applications from optoelectronics to photocatalysis. The research group of Dr. Roberto C. Dante  is a leader in the research on carbon nitride either as a powder or a thin film. Photocatalytic properties in advanced oxidation processes (AOP), and hydrogen production will be presented
