Course objectives

The module has an overall duration of 8 hours and consisting of lectures and exercises. Exercises are performed in groups and require only a manual calculator.

Objectives: This is an introductory course in inorganic membranes and their uses in within industry and water purification technologies.  Didactical objectives are:

-          to understand the design of the commercial inorganic membranes: structure, materials and their physical/chemical properties in relation to their applications.

-          to identify practical challenges with respect to membrane synthesis, characterization and processes

-          to be able to apply simple transport models for understanding and predicting membrane perm-selectivity.
