Program
A scholar’s career must include a critical knowledge of the basic instruments for measuring one’s scientific production and its impact. The world of bibliometric indicators is becoming wider and more complicated. The databases aimed at analyzing the map of citation intersections offer a wide range of possible investigations. In the run for academic success it is important to know how to preserve one’s identity, how to defend against predatory publishers, how to perceive the threat or the possibility offered by the Open Access movement, how to use the citation and bibliographic management software which best fits one’s needs and preferences. Besides this, it is important to understand the complex rules and procedures which run scientific written communication. This will be accomplished by providing a basic knowledge of the publishing environment, in a world where one’s scientific career depends so much on the ability to get one’s papers published.
