The scientific talk, like the scientific paper, is part of the scientific communication process. A good Ph D student must be able to deliver a well organized, well delivered scientific talk. Now that you're in graduate school, there is no avoiding the inevitable. At some point you will be asked to present your research findings to others. Public speaking is an art.
